Nestled in Ararat at the heart of the Grampians wine region, Clarnette Wines is a boutique label creating approachable, distinctive wines that honour tradition while embracing adventure. We love making great wine and creating beautiful memories—it’s what drives everything we do.

Our Heritage

Founded by the late Kym Ludvigsen and winemaker Leigh Clarnette in 2006, our story began with two great friends whose shared passion and decades of experience shaped award-winning Shiraz and Riesling from the Great Western sub-region. Following Kym’s passing in 2013, Leigh continues to craft wines from the original Ludvigsen vineyard and surrounding Grampians vineyards, honouring the legacy they built together.

The Winemaker

One of Australia’s winemaking’s quiet achievers, Leigh Clarnette brings over 40 years’ experience earned at Seppelt, Taltarni, and Montara. His talent for revealing the elegance of cool-climate Western Victorian soils is recognised through awards and his reputation across the Grampians and Pyrenees, where he’s often invited to craft vintages for other regional wineries.

Our Wines

Using traditional techniques, we create natural, clean wines that authentically reflect their place. From the Grampians’ distinctive Shiraz and Riesling to vibrant Rosé, aromatic Viognier, elegant Chardonnay, and Spanish-inspired Tempranillo, each wine embodies the approachable, smooth character this cool-climate region is known for.
