To celebrate the return of Grampians Grape Escape, the Grampians Winemakers have decided to release three dozen bottles of selected Barrique Shiraz, pre-2005 alongside the new release.
Visitors to Grampians Grape Escape on Saturday 30th April 2022 will have an amazing opportunity to purchase some very unique wines with the release of the Grampians Winemakers 2020 Barrique Shiraz and the special release of some of their museum stock.
Each year, the Grampians Winemakers take a small selection of the very best Shiraz from vintage from each Grampians Winemaker and make a “Barrique” of truly sensational Grampians Shiraz. The term “Barrique” refers to a specifically sized oak barrel, that holds 225 litres. The wine is carefully made and once ready, offered for sale at Grampians Grape Escape, a major fundraiser for the Grampians Winemakers.
The Grampians Winemakers “Barrique” was first made in 1991, with inspiration from Trevor Mast (Mount Langi Ghiran) and Ian McKenzie (Seppelt Wines). The tradition has continued ever since. These wines are a true taste of the Grampians and the ultimate wine for any connoisseur of Grampians Shiraz.
The 2022 release of the Grampians Winemakers Barrique has been reviewed and described as a ‘medium-bodied wine, it is bright and lively, the tannins are oh so silky, wrapping a very succulent wine. An aromatic, elegant and unmistakably Grampians Shiraz that drinks beautifully..” It is the ultimate wine to bring to the table.
The Barrique Bar is open for tastings from 10 am – 2 pm on Saturday 30th April 2022 with the Auction starting at 2:15 pm in the Masterclass Marquee.
